Jordan Brand is getting better and better at their women’s exclusive offerings—case in point, the new colorway of the Air Jordan Retro 5 that’s dropping soon.

First hinted at in March, the “Bluebird” AJ 5 Retro women’s shoe is icier than the original mockups predicted. Those plans featured a shoe that was bright royal blue like its namesake, but the version we’re getting is more inspired by robin’s egg blue. Though, the official word on the street is that the shoe is inspired by Bluebird days – a skiing term noting that the skies are blue and cloudless, often after a night of snowfall.

A light pastel blue is the name of the game here, as both the suede upper and middle paneling radiate this vibrant hue. There’s a slightly brighter shade of blue for the TPU eyelets, and the laces are also a lighter, brighter blue. This shoe is not all monochromatic blue shades, however. There’s a reflective silver tongue, along with classic silver shark tooth detailing along the midsole and at the back of the heel.

On the tongue, an embroidered icy Jumpman logo soars toward the hoop. There’s also a clear and blue lace toggle that’s perfect for keeping your shoes tight all day long.

While the midsole is a slightly darker blue than the upper, the outsole is the same icy shade as the upper, just more translucent. The rubber herringbone traction pattern offers you good grip on the ground for those times when you’re not flying around like a bird.

Even though this shoe is dropping in fall, it definitely gives off spring vibes. It pairs well with other pastel gear, like joggers or a hoodie. But if you want to bring it into your fall wardrobe, try going dark with the rest of your accessories. Black jeans and a maroon T-shirt would be a stunning look.
