Stepping Up and Lifting Up: Hibbett and Nike Celebrate A'ja Wilson's A'One Launch with a Day of Empowerment

Columbia, SC was buzzing with an incredible energy recently as Hibbett and Nike teamed up to host a truly special Support Her Sole event celebrating the launch of A’ja Wilson’s highly anticipated new Nike A’One black and pink colorway. More than just a sneaker release, this event was a powerful blend of basketball, empowerment, and community, all while honoring A'ja Wilson's remarkable journey and the impactful work of the A’ja Wilson Foundation.

The day kicked off with an undeniable sense of excitement, perfectly setting the stage for a confidence-building experience designed to empower the next generation through teamwork, communication, and the unwavering spirit of women supporting women.

Girl Talk: Mentorship and Sisterhood in Focus

A highlight of the event was the "Support Her Sole" Girl Talk session, hosted by the dynamic Andraya Carter of ESPN.

The girls were delighted with a surprise appearance of none other than Coach Dawn Staley. As A'ja Wilson's lifelong mentor and supporter, Coach Staley's presence truly elevated the moment, underscoring the profound impact of strong female role models.

This Girl Talk offered an open and honest discussion about the sport of basketball, challenges, the importance of mentorship, and the power of sisterhood. The young attendees had the opportunity to participate in a lively Q&A session and even write notes of encouragement for other young girls, fostering a beautiful sense of collective support.

A Generous Contribution to the A'ja Wilson Foundation

Further demonstrating their commitment to empowering young girls, Hibbett proudly presented the A’ja Wilson Foundation with a generous $25,000 donation!

This significant contribution will undoubtedly strengthen the foundation’s vital mission to provide educational programs, workshops, and camps that support children with dyslexia and combating bullying, creating invaluable opportunities for their success.

Exclusive Surprises and Activities

The excitement continued with a special surprise and delight moment for the young guests. In an unforgettable experience, the girls from the A'ja Wilson Foundation received exclusive first access to the new A’One black and pink colorway along with other custom, one-of-a-kind Nike apparel.

As another creative takeaway, attendees were invited to make "confidence boosting" custom bracelets, adding a personalized touch to their memorable day. As an added bonus, each guest went home with an autographed copy of Dawn Staley's new book, Uncommon Favor.

On-Court Action and Coaching Moments

The afternoon also featured high-energy on-court training sessions led by Andraya Carter and renowned trainer Misha Horsey, founder of Probound Training.

With exciting DJ sets by DJ Nosike setting the rhythm, delicious food, and a variety of empowering activities, the day was packed with positive experiences.

Community at the Core

This impactful event was a true testament to community collaboration. Hibbett and Nike proudly partnered with and hosted almost 40 girls from the A’ja Wilson Foundation network and the local Greenview Park area. 

The day was a powerful reminder of the impact that can be made when organizations and individuals come together to uplift and inspire the next generation. Hibbett and Nike are proud to have been a part of this unforgettable experience, celebrating A'ja Wilson's continued influence and championing the future of women in sports and beyond.

We want to encourage Gen-Z girls and millennial women to knock down boundaries and create their own through self-expression and being themselves.
